Hi, I’m Leesha — the writer behind The Unquiet Spirit.
I’ve spent most of my life being “the quiet one,” the people pleaser, the one who made herself smaller so other people could feel comfortable. I grew up carrying a faith that was both beautiful and bruising, helpful and harmful. I’ve done a lot of work to unlearn the versions of God that man and fear created. Somewhere along the way, courage found its way to my spirit.
I write because I know what it’s like to be deeply misunderstood, to feel intensely, to deconstruct and reconstruct broken foundations with shaking hands, to experience pain and joy at the same time, and to slowly learn that I’m allowed to take up space in this world.
My life is shaped by chronic illness, deep-seated empathy, reticent determination, a progressive and ever-evolving faith, and an authentic understanding of the messy, complicated humanity in us all. I’m married to my favorite person on earth, I’m a forever champion of the underdog, and I believe that kindness is only whole when it includes justice.
The Unquiet Spirit is my attempt to make the space I’ve always needed:
a place where people can feel seen, feel safe, and feel free to just be.
Whether you’re healing from religion, relationships, or your own expectations…
Whether you feel steady, wobbly, or somewhere in between…
Whether you’re determined to get unstuck, happily staying put, or striding forward…
You are welcome here.
I’m glad you found your way in.
